Featured in the Dutch 2018 Artists Yearbook

Each year the Stichting Kunstweek (Dutch Foundation Art Week) publishes the 'Dutch Artists Yearbook' that features Dutch established and upcoming artists. I had a feature in the 2017 edition and decided earlier this year to also signup for the 2018 edition.

Four artworks

Applications are reviewed by a committee. I was glad my application was accepted this year. This time I am presented on four pages, with pictures of 'Flamingo Morning', 'Drone', 'King Candy' and 'Don't talk, listen'. The artworks 'Flamingo Morning' and 'Don't talk, listen' are not sold yet at the time of writing this blogpost.

Some numbers on the book;

• a minimum of 5000 editions in the first run
• 250 pages
• hardcover
• sold for € 19,95 ($23 approx.)
• size: A4 (210 x 297mm / 8,2" x 11,6")
• paper inside: 115 grams half mat mc silk

Mr. Upside is featured in the Contemporary Book of Excellence Vol. III

Making art and then hoping someone will notice it without properly showing it to the world, is not the strategy I had in mind for my art. But where do you start? And which places do you select for showing the result of your hard work?

I am still experimenting with that part of the art business. Part of this ongoing experiment is my two page spread in the 'Contemporary Art of Excellence' book. Published by the GAA (Global Art Agency) its a book with a curated set of international artists.

Although the mention in the CAE book is initiated by me (it is essentially nothing more than a luxureous ad) you still have to go through the selection. I am proud to be part of that selection.

Although I didn't had the honor of being asked to participate (I believe none of the artists had) I still am proud to have my application accepted by the review committee.

Something to offer as an artist

As you might know, as a self-taught artist I didn't receive any relevant academic training and currently I have not been professionally involved with art for over 5 years. Those two conditions would have got me a publication right away. But the acceptation made me even stronger in my belief I have something to offer as an artist.
